Modbus TCP

Modbus is a simple, yet efficient communication protocol, which is based on a master/slave architecture. On the basis of Ethernet infrastructure Modbus TCP is a cost efficient and widely spread communication standard in TCP/IP networks.

The data sources [e.g. sensors] are operating as slaves, which have to be controlled by the process control system [PCS], that is acting as a Modbus TCP master. By actively polling data, the master acquires the measurement data and related additional information, such as status and may trigger different actions.

In general, Modbus TCP is widely used in many in process control systems [e.g., SPS, PC-based], so that a tecSaaS based system can be easily implemented in many industrial applications.
